What Does Deep Ground Injection Mean?
Deep ground injection, also known as deep soil injection, is a process designed to stabilise the soil beneath the foundations of your property. When subsidence occurs, or a void forms in the soil, the foundations of your property (and therefore your property) are at risk of costly and potentially hazardous damage. Deep ground injection stabilises the soil underneath your foundations by providing it with much-needed solidification and strength.
The process involves injecting our specially-developed polyurethane RSJ170 resin into the affected areas of soil underneath your foundations. As the name suggests, we have the capacity to inject deep into the ground at a depth of 3.5 metres. The resin expands to fill any holes or voids in the soil before solidifying. It helps to relevel sunken foundations and prevent any further downward movement. Resinject’s deep ground injection process is non-invasive, non-toxic and backed by a 50 year product warranty.
What Problems Does Deep Ground Injection Solve?
As one of the most effective methods of addressing soil subsidence and the formation of voids in the ground, deep ground injection is able to solve a variety of problems that can arise from the sinking of your foundations.
- General subsidence – deep resin injection into the soil helps solve subsidence problems by addressing many of its causes. In addition to providing added strength to the soil, the injected resin also helps to improve soil compaction and minimise shrinkage.
- Cracked walls – cracks in walls can often form due to the instability of the soil underneath the foundations of your property. They might appear as horizontal cracks or have a stair-like appearance in brickwork. Deep resin injections help to improve the load bearing capacity of the soil and prevent cracked walls from worsening.
- Unlevel structures – the instability of untreated soil can cause uneven movement of the foundation, meaning your property might sink in some areas and not in others. Deep ground injection solidifies and stabilises the soil, and in the process can help to level structures that have become uneven.
- Foundation repair / sunken concrete – deep ground injection is able to fix sunken and cracked foundations caused by soil subsidence and voidage. By filling in holes in the soil with our polyurethane resin product, the soil becomes more stable, less prone to subsidence and void formation, and more capable of bearing the weight of concrete slabs and foundations.
- Holes and voids – voidage can be caused by erosion, a surplus or deficit of moisture in the soil and other natural or man-made causes. All of which can be fixed by deep ground injection.
- Revetment walls – though its purpose is to minimise the potential for water and erosion damage, an aged or poorly constructed revetment wall may need the assistance of deep ground injection in order to continue to serve its main function to the best of its capabilities.
If your residential, commercial or industrial property appears to be suffering one of the numerous symptoms of subsidence or voidage, deep ground injection may be your best course of action. Frequently Asked Questions
Leaving an unstable structure can cause further issues. By having an early assessment/treatment, will save further costs and lessen further damage from occurring.
Most residential jobs are finished within a few hours. Bigger projects may take over a day; your Structural Consultant will discuss the time frame as part of the free site assessment and quoting.
Only a licenced builder has the knowledge and experience required to assess how a building’s internal structure is going to react to ground consolidation and stabilisation.
With over 100 years of combined experience, Resinject exclusively uses an Australian-engineered resin that can be injected to depths of up to 6.5 meters when needed, ensuring proper re-support is installed. We do offer a 50 year guarantee against shrinkage with our product.
Injection depth can be critical to ensuring long-term ground consolidation. Each situation varies and the injection depth is determined by the state of the ground and or dependant on geo-technical reports. That’s why we inject our resin at multiple and different depths varying between 800mm and 6.5m.
If there are utility services in close proximity to the injection points, we may have to clear some areas for a visual inspection. Otherwise, only small holes are drilled to allow our product to be injected. These are sealed with non-shrink grout upon completion.
Subsidence repair cost varies from job to job as each job is different. When you call Resinject, one of our specialists will complete a comprehensive assessment of the affected area on your property. They will determine the best course of action and provide you with a no obligation free quote for the job.
