The Site

A single storey brick veneer church constructed on a bluestone foundations.

The Issue

Over time, a large 32m long section at the back of the building had experienced settlement of up to 52mm.

This caused significant cracks in the external walls. If subsidence isn’t rectified, the force exerted on the building could quickly multiply foundational and structural issues.

This could increase the cost of repairs and remediation in the future.

The Resinject Solution

Resinject was chosen to improve the ground conditions and prevent the building from future movement.
Over the course of one day the Resinject Team injected a series of stabilising piers at various depths to prevent any future movement of the foundations. The ground conditions were successfully consolidated and strengthened, reducing future movement of the building.
Resinject recommended remediation of the foundations using their RSJ170 structural resin. RSJ170 is an engineered polyurethane resin that expands and solidifies when injected into the ground. The resin strengthens the ground and re-levels the overlaying foundations.
Traditional underpinning would have required excavation, taken weeks to complete at great expense, and caused major disruption to the church community.
